2017 SIM Expo - Highlights
The 2017 SIM Expo, held Nov 30 & Dec 1 in Toronto, was a great event. SIM Expo continues to be the largest interprofessional and multidisciplinary simulation conference in Canada. Each year, the SIM Expo brings together healthcare leaders in university, college and hospital sectors, comprised of administrators, educators, clinicians, SIM centre managers and directors, and researchers from all health professions across Canada and beyond. The SIM Expo prides in its strong culture of networking, building relationships, and uniting the simulation community. The annual conference allows participants to connect directly with peers, experts and future collaborators in healthcare simulation.
This year's theme was SIMULATION & GAMIFICATION, with a focus on applying gaming principles to improve simulation, as well as virtual patients and e-simulations to enhance learning.
We were excited to celebrate numerous simulationists at this year's Expo, with a variety of awards: Sim Citizenship, SIM Champion, SIM Innovators, best posters/presentations, and this year's Keystones of Simulation Certificate recipients.
Participants in the 2017 SIM Expo enthusiastically pursued the culprit in the Expo's integrated mystery game: Who Busted SimMan? Delegates had to search high and low around the Expo for clues then channel their inner Sherlock Holmes to deduce which of 6 students busted SimMan during one of their simulations.
